Michael Waterhouse started his engineering career as a Project Engineer for Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. in Schenectady, NY where he provided technical oversight for the design and procurement of equipment used by the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. This experience helped develop Michael’s skills in engineering, cost estimating, vendor negotiating, non-destructive testing, and quality assurance. The program operated under a rigorous program of checks and balances to ensure engineering excellence and safety. Michael learned many best-practices and problem solving skills which still serve him well today. When Michael’s job with Bechtel was relocated out of state, he changed companies in order to stay in the Albany NY area where he grew up. He took on a position with Atlas Copco as a Project Engineer and then as a Project Manager for the Compressor Technology (Comptec) division. There, Michael acted as the key point of contact for customers and provided technical direction to Mechanical and Controls Engineers under his supervision. Thanks to Michael’s technical background, we were able to focus on massive, highly custom air and nitrogen centrifugal compressors. Michael’s attention to detail and customer-focus let him excel in that role. Challenging deadlines and meeting customer needs shaped Michael’s approach to project management. He knows the value of a good contract and a good relationship with clientele. Michael always looks for win-win solutions and works to reach resolutions that are positive for both him and his clients. Michael was hired by BullEx Inc. in 2010, where he started as the Project Manager for R&D. In this position, Michael sharpened his management skills and tapped into his creativity to help design, build and deliver innovative products for the Firefighter Service. Michael’s flexibility and expansive background was a valuable asset, since the company was growing and many gaps needed to be filled. His collaborative approach and do-whatever-it-takes attitude benefited the company greatly. He played key roles in the development and commercialization of new products. As the company grew, it was clear that a more rigorous product development process was needed. Michael helped create a process to evaluate new ideas and bring the most promising ones to market. Michael then took on the strategic role of Global Product Manager where he worked to consolidate and globalize the product catalog and establish a new pricing scheme. Michael has a dual major from Clarkson University comprised of a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. Michael is also a certified a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is an active member of the Upstate New York chapter of the Project Management Institute where he helps teach the annual certification exam preparation classes. He is the co-inventor on one patent. In his spare time, you can find Michael in his garage working on classic cars. He has won several class championships ice racing with the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club (AMEC) where he races his cars on frozen lakes in the winter. Michael Waterhouse, Engineering Manager
