Tom Rossi is an experienced entrepreneur wired for critical thinking and efficiency. In 2004, Tom was a member of the 3-man team that founded BullEx – a company that quickly grew from a single invention to become a world leader in fire service training equipment, fire prevention equipment, and builder of firefighter training centers worldwide. The company’s rapid success was achieved by continued development of innovative and patented technology along with strategic acquisitions. Tom served as the company’s Chief Operations Officer and his responsibilities included manufacturing, engineering, logistics, inventory management, customer service, facilities management, accounting, and human resources. Utilizing his experience and skills from BullEx, Tom and his co-founder John Blackburn founded Redburn Development Companies in 2013, focusing on adaptive re-use real estate development projects that include historic renovations and green energy building techniques. Notable projects include the Tilley Lofts, the first market rate LEED Platinum multi-family project in NY State, and The Wick Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property. Furthermore, Redburn has developed a vertically integrated platform capable of handling all aspects of the property lifecycle. Key differentiators include a fundamental shift in property management and maintenance. Utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, Tom has developed a much more efficient process for property management and maintenance, eliminating waste and implementing world class manufacturing strategies for preventative maintenance and work order management. Tom also implanted a B2B sales strategy, utilizing corporate marketing and PR practices and the Sandler sales system which greatly accelerates lease up and re-leasing. This has led to multi-family projects being 75% leased before CO and achieving 98% occupancy portfolio wide. Tom spends considerable time identifying needs in the marketplace and finding improved ways to fill them. In 2014, Tom and John co-founded MassiveMesh, a new Internet service provider that uses both fiber and wireless internet topologies. MassiveMesh began as an option for tenants in Redburn projects, at rates drastically less than traditional options, and quickly grew to offer service to over 2,000 households in surrounding cities and has now expanded to places as far away as Puerto Rico. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where his concentrations were mechatronics and manufacturing. He is a co-inventor on 2 US patents. In his spare time, Tom enjoys hiking and spending time with his family. Thomas Rossi, Principal
